Buses
Buy a ticket in advance of a bus journey is the cheapest and most convenient way to travel. As prices are discounted. The transport company which services the city is Carris in Lisbon for many years. If you plan to stay for longer period you may consider getting a tourist pass which gives unlimited travel by Carris. Passes can be bouught in the kiosks of Carris in railway and or most metro stations. You can find the Intercity bus station on the corner of Av. João Crisóstomo, near to McDonald’s.
Airport
Situated 7 kilometres from the city centre is Lisbons international airport and Portugal's largest international air hub the Aeroporto da Portela. IT sees an estimated 13 million passengers per year. You can buy get taxi vouchers at the airport if you are worried about dishonest taxi drivers.
Taxi
It is easy to find taxis in Lisbon. The Beige-colored car are dotted in every corner of the city and offer very reasonable prices to get around. Starting meter is €3.25 and the distance is metered from then on. But do beware of driver preying on the wallets of unassuming tourists.
Car Hire
Unless you plan to venture outside the city there is no real reason to rent a car as the city is quite compact. Keep a lookout for signings reading "Estacionamento Proibido" as this means it is a no parking zone. The cities car parks are located in the downtown area from €1.20 per hour. You can hire a car at the airport or if you are on a budget there are very cheap car rental options from Santa Apolónia Station, but it is advisably to book early.
